Why sizing matters more than people expect
Unlike some AC components, a copper coil that's "close enough" in size can genuinely hurt performance — undersized coils struggle to transfer heat efficiently, while oversized coils can cause poor refrigerant flow and efficiency losses. Getting the match right is worth the extra step of confirming specs before ordering.
Capacity (tonnage) comes first
Every coil is rated for a specific cooling capacity, typically measured in tons (1 ton = 12,000 BTU/hr). This needs to match your system's actual capacity — check your existing unit's nameplate or your AC's original specification sheet before sourcing a replacement.
Fin spacing affects both performance and maintenance
Fin spacing — how tightly packed the coil's fins are — affects both heat transfer efficiency and how easily the coil collects dust and debris. Tighter fin spacing generally means more surface area (better efficiency) but requires more frequent cleaning, especially in dusty environments common across the UAE.
Number of rows
Coils are built with a specific number of tube rows (commonly 2, 3, or 4 rows for residential and light commercial systems). More rows generally mean more cooling capacity and dehumidification, but also more airflow resistance — matching your system's original row count is usually the safest choice unless you're deliberately upgrading capacity.
Connection size and type
The coil's refrigerant line connections need to match your system's existing line set diameter. A mismatch here means either an awkward adapter fitting or a full line replacement — both add cost and potential failure points.
Evaporator vs. condenser coils
Evaporator coils (indoor) and condenser coils (outdoor) serve different roles and are not interchangeable — always confirm which one you're sourcing, and provide the specific system side when requesting a quote.
What to send us for the fastest, most accurate quote
- A photo of the existing coil's nameplate, if visible
- Your outdoor unit's brand, model number, and rated tonnage
- Whether you need the evaporator (indoor) or condenser (outdoor) coil
With those details, our sourcing team can match you to the correct coil — or the closest verified-compatible equivalent — across our supplier network.
